As an Ex Automotive mechanic with an urge to fly
(worked too long with turkeys?)I have become interested
in automotive engine conversion for Xperimental Aviation
use. I was originally looking at using the very popular Subaru EA81 engine but did not find a gear or belt reduction drive I was happy with at a reasonable price so I started looking at other alternatives. I have ,as of March 2000, decided to try the Corvair engine instead. It will not need the PSRU, so should be about the same weight, and run at a more sedate RPM. We plan on installing this engine in a Pegazair 100 STOL which is currently under construction (Jan 2007).
